Earth Day Pledge

Every Year Earth Day is supposed to be a day when every person living on this planet Earth promises to help & take care of our planet Earth. I have often wondered what effect the environment has had on the development of my cancer. We may never know the answer to that question but I can see no downside to improving the environment, for ourselves and our kids.
Signing the Pledge below shows your concern that you are ready to do everything that can make a difference.
- I pledge to help make Earth Day every day by Taking the Next Step to prevent pollution and help the environment.
- I pledge to do what I can to recycle, conserve energy, save water and protect our natural resources.
- I pledge to help my family learn how they can help the environment and work together for a cleaner and healthier tomorrow.

Nice post. I'm old enough I remember when the first couple of Earth Days happened. Those of us supporting it, talking about or even knowing about where considered "out there". Nice to see people are finally getting on board. However, sad to know it's taken this long.

Hi,
With earth day and cancer being on all our minds at this wonderful website, I'd like to suggest another much neglected area where we can join forces to attack the many physically and spiritually toxic areas of our environment, esp the "man-made" environment.
I allude to this issue in my book, Conquer Prostate Cancer: How Medicine, Faith, Love and Sex Can Renew Your Life (www.ConquerProstateCancer.com). In writing that book I briefly highlight the work of Dr. Samuel Epstein of Chicago, a genuine iconoclast and scientist whose work on the many toxic substances we use in our daily lives is worth exploring online and offline.
As a separate comment, I'd like to offer my "Prayer for Prostate Cancer and Other Cancer Patients" if you'd like me to forward it to readers of this column or to an email where you receive such offers. I composed it last week for our local "Relay for Life" under the auspices of the American Cancer Society, which I have to admit is not Dr Epstein's favorite cause! - Rabbi Ed Weinsberg, Ed.D.
