7 ways to make your cookout healthier

So my family is heading out to the Freestyle Music Park, formerly the Hard Rock Park, in Myrtle Beach to celebrate the 4th. If we weren't doing that odds are we'd be grilling something up. As you know there are some health risks that come from grilling but here are some ways to decrease the risk.
- Cut out the meat. Okay, so this isn't going to happen in my family but I can talk them into chicken instead of burgers sometimes. Remember fish, other seafood and veggie burger and dogs work just as well.
- Grill fruits and veggies. You know you don't eat enough of them plus when you grill fruits and vegetables you don't have to worry about the charring that is the problem with meats.
- If you're going to grill fruits and vegetables remember to spray them with some non stick spray or brush them with oil, otherwise you'll have a mess. Oh, and don't peel them, you get more nutrition that way.
- Par-cook your foods. This will save you time and decrease the risk of carcinogens.
- Grill on a lower heat either by decreasing the heat on a gas grill or by raising the rack on your charcoal grill.
- Marinate your meats. I'm not sure why but marinating decreases the risk of carcinogens and makes it taste better anyway.
- Turn your meat frequently. This helps prevent sticking and decreasing the risk of burning.
