9 year old with autism dead because of Mom?
In Salem Massachussetts Kristen LaBrie has been charged with attempted murder after the death of her 9 year old son, Jeremy. It is alleged that Mom withheld cancer treatment from her son who had leukemia.
According to reports Mom allegedly canceled or missed at least a dozen chemotherapy treatments and failed to fill prescriptions.
Jeremy was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006. His father took care of him for the last months of his life and is on the side of the district attorney.Ms. LaBrie has pleaded not guilty and faces up to 20 years in state prison for attempted murder. She was interviewed by WCVB today and says that "I Am Not a Monster". When asked "Did you do everything to save him?" She responded, surely on the advice of her attorney, "I'm not going to answer that question. I think my story will come at a trial."
Should she be charged with attempted murder? I mean the child is dead so why is it not manslaughter or murder? Does the fact that the child had autism make a difference?

I think this mother (and the father) had a responsibility to their child to obtain medical treatment. If I remember correctly, his cancer was curable with treatment. At 9, Jeremy was a child and unable to make life altering decisions for himself.
BOTH parents are responsible for Jeremy's life and death.
I believe these types of issues (treatment, immunizations, etc) happen more often than the public is informed about.
As adults we must take responsibility for our actions/decisions.
I agree with you but there is a vocal minority that claims it is a violation of parents rights to force them to have chemo.
I think she should be arrested! They need to make a law that forces the parents to get treatment for their children
She should be charged!! They need to make a law that forces people to get treatment for their children!!!
