Never had a tan I didn't pay for

I could stay in the sun all day long and I would never get a tan. That's not completely true, eventually all of the freckles might connect and make it look like a tan but that's as close as I expect to get.

When the darling husband and I went on a cruise a couple of years ago we decided that rather than expose hundreds of strangers to our fish belly whiteness we'd get a spray on tan. OMG it was amazing. We both looked thinner and healthier in a matter of 30 minutes. I could suddenly understand why people spend so much time on tanning.

But is that going to come to an end? The U.K. has legislation coming up banning tanning beds for the under 18 crowd, Ontario, Canada is looking at banning it as well. Howard County, Maryland's Board of Health has already approved regulations that will ban youth under the age of 18 from using indoor tanning devices and Baltimore is considering making youth bring a prescription.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Melanoma is especially dangerous among young people. About 65%–90% of melanomas are caused by exposure to UV light. According to the World Health Organization Studies tanning beds increase the risk of skin cancer by 75 percent.

So what do you think? Are you a die hard tanner? Is there nothing that will make you stop? Is this just a strategy to make people buy their own tanning beds?

Don't feel bad I don't tan either. I keep waiting for the day that pasty and pale comes back into fashion.

I'm a redhead. I get burned just thinking about going into the sun. I've never used a tanning bed. My husband says I look better tan..the first two years I sat out in the sun. I actually think I look better pale, and after 4 yrs of marriage, I'm pale...ha-ha. I'm w/ the person before:
I'm waiting for pale to "come back into style"

I think they should also tax the hell out of it. If people are going to be taking up valuable chemo chair space or OR space for a cancer they could have prevented, I say we make them pay for their vanity.

I don't tan I burn like a lobster....I had a friend who tanned all the time. we lost touch for a while but ran into each other in the grocery store. I barely recognized her. Her skin was like leather with very deep wrinkles around her eyes.

I'd rather stay pale, have good skin and not end up with skin cancer

Welcome my fellow pale folks. I feel your pain. I really feel it for my son, he's so pale he's practically translucent!
